We all know that if we make healthy choices and eat right, our bodies will stay strong and healthy which can help prevent diet related illness, such as some cancers, diabetes and heart disease. What most of us don’t think about is what we are putting on our skin. Did you know that lotions, perfumes and anything you put on your skin can be absorbed into the bloodstream?

Do you know what’s in your lotions, soaps, perfumes, etc? Many skincare products today includes dangerous chemicals. What if there was an all natural product that came from a plant which could boost your concentration, treat insomnia, help fight depression, relax the skin, prevent infection, treat spasms, ease childbirth and more? Jasmine essential oil benefits offers all of these advantages.

Scent of Jasmine

The Scent of Jasmine

The sweet aromatic fragrance of Jasmine essential oil can do a lot to lift our mood and our spirits. The oil is taken from the white flowers of the common Jasmine plant, also known as Jasminum officinale. The flower is believed to be native to Iran but is also found in tropical climates.

In recent studies, researchers in Germany discovered that the scent of Jasmine had a powerful effect on nerve cells and found that Jasmine was just as strong as sleeping pills and sedatives without the harsh side effects to some commercial medications.

In aromatherapy, inhaling Jasmine or absorbing it through the skin is known to transmit messages to the limbic system of the brain which is involved in controlling emotions and behavior. It is commonly used in massage therapy to support muscles and joints. It’s enticing aroma promotes feelings of strength and vitality. It’s also universally known as an aphrodisiac due to its rich, sweet smell and is thought to be warming and seductive. Just dab a little behind your ears or on your wrists and it could be a fun night with your significant other.

How to Use Jasmine Essential Oil

For Boosting Concentration: Try a diffuser blend of 1 drop each of Jasmine, Patchouli and Wild Orange essential oils.

Treating Insomnia: Add 1 to 2 drops to your skin care regimen or put a couple drops of Jasmine and Clary Sage on your pillowcase. (You can also place a few drops on a cotton ball and place under your pillowcase if preferred)

Relaxing the Skin: Make a Jasmine bath salt blend to add to your bath. You will need 2 cups Epsom salts, 6 drops of Jasmine essential oil, 15 drops of Lavender essential oil and 2 tbsp dried rose petals. Add all ingredients together and store in a glass jar. Add 1/2 cup to your hot bath and enjoy. Can store for up to 1 year.

Preventing Infection: To heal cuts and abrasions, start by cleaning the wound with water and mild soap. Once area is clean, add 1 to 2 drops Jasmine into a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil. Dab or if possible, massage the oil in to the area gently with a clean towel then wrap with a bandage. Apply twice a day until healed.

Treating Spasms: To treat muscle spasms, apply a few drops of Jasmine essential oil to the affected area. (Do a skin patch test first to make sure you have no allergic reactions or any skin sensitivities)

Using to Ease Childbirth: This would need to be approved by your doctor first but Jasmine essential oil has shown to strengthen the contractions in a natural way while also providing comfort to the mother. I wish I would have known this 18 years ago. (Just a note that it is not recommended during pregnancy because it can induce labor by stimulating uterine contractions).

Reducing Menopausal Symptoms: Works as a natural remedy for PMS and cramps. Combine 1 to 2 drops of Jasmine essential oil and 1 tbsp of a carrier oil of your choice. I like Jojoba or fractionated coconut oil. Massage on to the abdomen for relief of PMS and cramps.

Boost Libido: Try this libido boosting blend diffused or diluted in a carrier oil for a soothing massage. Simply blend 2 drops Neroli essential oil, 2 drops Jasmine essential oil and 2 drops Ylang Ylang essential oil. Add to a carrier oil like sweet almond oil or jojoba oil.

Aroma Ace Atomizing Diffuser

Looking for a diffuser and not sure what kind to get? How about a portable one that you can take anywhere with you? If you suffer from allergies or asthma, I highly recommend the Aroma Ace Atomizing Diffuser. What I like most is that it is a cold-air diffuser that disperses essential oils into the air on a molecular level. This is at the highest level of diffusing essential oils because you are breathing in the benefits of the oils since they are not being destroyed by any heat.

Helathy Skin with Jasmine

Healthy Skin with Jasmine Oil

Did you know that mixing Jasmine oil into facial creams, shower gels or body lotions can help reduce blemishes, prevent oily skin, diminish wrinkles and fine lines and eliminate dryness? It can do all this and has no harsh chemicals therefore remember, anything you slather on your skin is going to seep right through and into your bloodstream.

Many people suffer from dry skin year round. Chronic dry skin can lead to premature aging. When you use Jasmine essential oil mixed with a carrier oil and apply to dry skin, the skin will hold the moisture better and within weeks you will notice an improvement in the suppleness of your skin. The scent is beautiful and it just might become addicting to use.

Jasmine oil uses

Jasmine Oil Should be Used in Moderation

Jasmine essential oil is a safe oil to use for a wide array of symptoms. It is not known to cause irritation or toxicity but it should be used in moderation. Large doses of Jasmine oil can increase sleep due to its sedative properties.

It is important that when applying topically, be sure to always test the oil on a small patch of skin to ensure you have no sensitivity or irritation towards it. Diluting the oil with a carrier oil may help decrease irritation if present.

If you are new to using this oil, consult with your doctor or health practitioner first to avoid any negative interactions with medications. Essential oils should never be taken internally. Keep out of the eyes, ears and nose.
